Tripgen started because planning a European motorhome trip was taking longer than the trip itself.
Your sat nav plans the drive. Tripgen plans the trip.
I spent fifteen years in IT, working on casino gaming systems across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The job meant living out of hotels in a different country every few weeks. By the time I left that world, I had a working knowledge of European driving rules, border quirks, toll systems, and the kind of practical detail that only comes from turning up and getting it wrong the first time.
When my partner and I bought our first motorhome, I assumed planning a trip would be the easy part. It was not. We wanted three weeks through France, Switzerland, and northern Italy with our dog. What followed was weeks of cross-referencing campsite databases, checking pet entry rules, working out vignette costs, and trying to keep driving days under five hours. I had six browser tabs open for every overnight stop.
Tripgen exists because that process should take five minutes, not five weeks. You tell us where you want to go, and we pull together campsite options, driving routes, toll costs, weather, and local recommendations into one dashboard. Every campsite comes with real Google reviews and photos. Every leg shows you the distance, the drive time, and whether you need a vignette. If you are travelling with a dog, we flag the pet-friendly sites and the entry rules for each country you cross.
The tool is built on a database of more than 50,000 European campsites cross-referenced with Google Places data, live weather feeds, and routing that accounts for motorhome dimensions. It is not a generic travel planner with a caravan skin. Every decision in the system, from how we space overnight stops to how we score campsites, comes from the kind of trip I was trying to plan myself.
We apply your vehicle's exact height, width, and weight to every route before anything else is calculated. Not as an afterthought, not as a setting you have to find. Your dimensions go in once, and from that point every road, every bridge, and every turning is judged against them. If a route would put your vehicle somewhere it does not fit, it does not appear in your plan. You will not need to second-guess the routing, add a few centimetres to your measurements just to feel safer, or cross-check against a second app.
Tripgen is a one-person operation based in the UK. I build it, I maintain it, and I use it to plan my own trips. If something is broken or missing, I want to know. There is a feedback button on every dashboard, or you can email me directly.
No affiliate links, no sponsored campsites, no hidden rankings. The options you see are the ones that genuinely fit your route and priorities.
Google reviews, live weather, actual toll costs. We do not make up ratings or invent facilities that are not there.
No sales team, no call centre, no upsells. Just a tool that does one job properly. If it does not work for you, tell me and I will fix it.
Trip plans are free during early access. Fill in a short questionnaire and your dashboard will be ready in about five minutes.
